What Is PvZ Fusion? The Fan Game Explained
Plants vs Zombies Fusion is a free fan-made game by LanPiaoPiao that adds plant fusion to the classic formula. Here's what it is and isn't.
If you've seen clips of a Peashooter merged with a Sunflower and wondered what game that is — it's Plants vs Zombies Fusion, the fan-made tower defense game the PvZ community can't stop playing.
The short version
PvZ Fusion is a free, non-profit fan project created by LanPiaoPiao (known online as Blue Fly), a Bilibili creator who released the first public build in June 2024. It's built in Unity, runs on Windows PC and Android, and has nothing to do with EA or PopCap — it's a love letter to the 2009 original, not an official sequel.
What makes it different
The headline feature is plant fusion: plant a compatible seed packet on top of an existing plant and the two merge into a hybrid that keeps both abilities — sometimes gaining powers neither parent had. A Peashooter on a Sunflower becomes a shooter that also drops sun. The community wiki now tracks 500+ fusion recipes, and some plants can fuse again for even stronger forms. Our gameplay guide breaks down the whole system.
Is it really free?
Yes — completely. No ads, no in-app purchases, no premium currency. The developer releases it as a free fan project, which is part of why it spread so fast. Details on versions and what's included are in our safety and pricing breakdown.
What it is NOT
- Not an official EA/PopCap game
- Not on the Play Store or Steam — it's distributed through the community download hub
- Not in English by default (a community translation patch fixes that — see the install guide)
The latest version is 4.0.5 (October 2026), and updates land regularly. If you're ready to try it, head to the download page.
